ReviewMyManuscript – Terms of use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your rights and obligations when using ReviewMyManuscript (the "Application", "Service") provided by ReviewMyManuscript.

By using the Service you confirm that you have read, understood, and accept these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

1. Nature of the Service

Review My Manuscript is software that, for scientific manuscripts and academic texts:

• produces AI-assisted pre-review and quality-check reports, and
• offers automated suggestions on language, structure, possible methodological weaknesses, and editorial aspects.

ReviewMyManuscript is a decision-support tool; final scientific and ethical responsibility remains with you.

2. Registration and accounts

You may need an account for parts of the Service. In that case:

• you are responsible for keeping your information accurate and up to date;
• you must protect the confidentiality of your credentials (e.g. password);
• you are responsible for activity under your account.

We may suspend or close accounts that are fake, abusive, or breach these Terms.

3. Use of the Service and limits

When using ReviewMyManuscript you agree:

• to use the Service only for lawful purposes;
• not to infringe others' intellectual property, personal data, or privacy;
• to follow applicable ethics, publication rules, and standards of academic integrity.

3.1 Prohibited uses

The following are prohibited:

• uploading confidential manuscripts or referee reports without proper authorisation (including co-authors)
• deliberately fabricating data or results, committing plagiarism, or using the Service to legitimise such content
• using the Service to conceal academic misconduct (e.g. undisclosed ghost-writing, undisclosed AI use, unauthorised data sharing)
• attacking or attempting to compromise the Service or infrastructure (reverse engineering, unauthorised access, etc.)

4. Scientific and ethical responsibility

ReviewMyManuscript:

• performs linguistic, structural, and certain consistency checks;
• may flag some methodological or statistical risks, without guaranteeing accuracy or completeness.

You remain solely responsible for:

• the scientific accuracy of your work, appropriateness of methods, and truthfulness of reported results;
• correctness and suitability of statistical analyses;
• ethics approvals where required (patients, animals, vulnerable groups);
• compliance with COPE, ICMJE, and journal or institutional policies;
• transparent disclosure of generative-AI use where required by journal policy.

ReviewMyManuscript does not create scientific content; it offers suggestions, warnings, and alternatives based on what you provide. Always apply your own expert judgment before following any suggestion.

5. Not medical, legal, or professional advice

Nothing in the Service constitutes:

• medical diagnosis or treatment advice, or
• legal, financial, or professional advice.

Consult qualified professionals for such matters. Do not use ReviewMyManuscript as a substitute for professional decisions in those domains.

6. Fees, subscriptions, and refunds

ReviewMyManuscript may be offered in free or paid packages. For paid packages: current prices and scope are shown on the website or in the app; payments are processed by Paddle, which acts as Merchant of Record; usage duration, credits, limits, and scope are described on the relevant pages.

Refund policy

Payments are collected via Paddle. Paddle's 14-day refund policy applies where applicable.

14-day right of withdrawal

Consumers may withdraw within 14 days of completing the purchase without giving reasons. The period starts the day after payment is completed.

Where withdrawal still applies:

• requests are handled through Paddle support;
• refunds are made to the original payment method, without undue delay and within 14 days where required;
• Paddle may refuse abusive or fraudulent refund requests.

Defective or non-conforming services

This policy does not remove statutory consumer rights under applicable law (including Turkey's Consumer Protection Law No. 6502 where it applies) for defective, faulty, or non-conforming services — including where the Service does not work as described, is incomplete, or breaches the agreement.

7. Intellectual property

7.1 Your content

• You retain all rights in manuscripts, tables, figures, and materials you upload.
• The Application processes your content only as needed under these Terms and the Privacy Policy and does not claim ownership of your research.

7.2 Software and brand

• Software, UI, design, database structure, trademarks, and logos belong to ReviewMyManuscript or its licensors.
• You receive only a limited licence to use them; no ownership is transferred.

8. Rights in AI outputs

Reports, scores, and text suggestions generated by ReviewMyManuscript ("AI outputs"):

• are derivative suggestions based on your input;
• may be used or ignored when drafting your final text, at your discretion;
• do not create a separate copyright work as between you and the system absent a specific agreement; the underlying work is your original manuscript.

9. Limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available".

ReviewMyManuscript and its affiliates:

• do not warrant uninterrupted, error-free, or fit-for-purpose operation;
• do not guarantee AI outputs are always accurate, complete, unbiased, or current;
• are not liable for non-acceptance, delay, or rejection by any journal;
• disclaim indirect or consequential damages (including reputational or revenue loss) to the extent permitted by law; mandatory consumer protections remain unaffected.

10. Third-party services

The Service may link or integrate third parties (journals, reference tools, payment providers). Their quality, privacy practices, and terms are outside our control; your relationship with them is your responsibility.

11. Changes to the Terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes may be announced in-app and, where appropriate, by email. Continued use after publication means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing law and venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Turkey.

Disputes should first be sought in good faith; if unresolved, Turkish courts and enforcement offices have jurisdiction.
